The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a centrally sponsored flagship program of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. Benefits Under PMMVY
For the First Child
Women are entitled to ₹5,000 in two instalments, plus an additional incentive under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), making the total benefit approximately ₹6,000.

- Completion of vaccinations up to 14 weeks.
This provision encourages positive change towards the girl child and contributes to improving the Sex Ratio at Birth.
Special Cases
- Miscarriage/Stillbirth: Treated as fresh cases for future pregnancies.
- Multiple Births: If twins/triplets are born in the second pregnancy and one or more are girls, benefits apply as per PMMVY 2.0 norms.

- Pregnant women aged 19 years or above.
- Applicable for the first live birth and for the second child if it is a girl.
- Women experiencing wage loss due to pregnancy.

Cut-Off Date – Beneficiaries must apply within two years from the date of their Last Menstrual Period (LMP), subject to eligibility conditions under PMMVY 2.0.

Since the benefit is paid out in three instalments depending upon the pregnancy milestones, the beneficiary will receive at least two instalments in case of stillbirth. The date of miscarriage will be a factor in deciding whether the benefit will continue or not.
